Community
Volunteering over 300 hours at Emerson Hospital
One of my greatest community contributions has been volunteering over three hundred hours at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts. Over the span of two years, I spent my Saturday mornings transporting patients, delivering medical equipment, and working in the gift shop. The help provided by myself and the other volunteers allowed the hospital staff to focus more on the patients, and also provided me with a sense of community.
Donations to Avon Walk for Cancer and the Susan G. Komen Foundation
Last year, my life was changed when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. I became a supporter of charities such as Susan G. Komen, and the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. On the day of the Avon walk, I volunteered to provide support along the forty mile route. My involvement with these organizations not only helped to raise money and awareness for research, but provided me with essential emotional support during my mother's battle.
Relay For Life
In addition to the national cancer charities listed above, I've also supported the local Burlington, Massachusetts Relay For Life charity. For the past three years, I've financially supported Team Escape during their 12 hour walk, and have attended the event in order to provide moral and emotional support to the team members.
