Hannah Christianson
I was selected to play guitar and sing backing vocals in the band of fellow Berklee student Hannah Christianson, and from January to April 2009, we rehearsed twice a week, arranging her original songs for piano, guitar, bass and drums. With the help of MP&E major Jeff Gartenbaum, we recorded a three song demo showcasing two of her original compositions, plus her unique arrangement of Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust". At the end of the semester, we performed her original instrumental, "Jicama", in front of her arranging class.

Jude Nemo: Soulstice
This 2008 electronica release was the third album I recorded under the moniker of Jude Nemo. I wrote, arranged and produced the album in my home studio, and began receiving airplay on Pandora.com. These tracks won the B.E.S.T. scholarship in 2008, and were showcased in the Video Game Music Club's Demo Derby in 2009.

Jude Nemo: Band Demo
"The Band Demo" was recorded in 2005 at Berklee's Studio A by Josh Houkirk '05, and featured Justin panariello '05 on bass, Keith Karlson (Steph Kellogg & The SK6ERS) on keys, and Colby Kuzontkoski on drums. This four song EP featured fleshed out arrangements of selected acoustic tracks from "Jedi In Jeans", as well as a live track of the band recorded at The Attic in Newton MA.

Jude Nemo: Jedi In Jeans
This 2004 full-length acoustic album was my first solo release under the name Jude Nemo. Across its twelve tracks, I showcased my songwriting abilities and acoustic chops. I toured around small coffee shops, clubs, and colleges throughout the Northeast in support of this album, eventually selling 500 copies.

Satellite (Dave Matthews Tribute Band)
In 2003 I founded Satellite, the first Dave Matthews tribute band to emerge from the Boston area. Filling the role of "Dave", Satellite became an immediate success on both the club circuit and in the college market. From 2003-2005, the band toured from Maine to Florida, regularly performing at Sugarloaf ski resort, and playing for audiences of up to 5,000 people. Due to this success, in 2005 I was hired by the Rochester-based Dave Matthews tribute One Sweet World, with whom I toured for a year.

Traveling Matt
Prior to my solo career, I was the singer/songwriter/lead guitarist for Amherst's Traveling Matt, a five-piece contemporary acoustic rock/pop group from Western Massachusetts. Traveling Matt released two albums, a seven song self titled EP in 1999, and the full-length "Stories For A Day" in 2000. The latter of the two albums was recorded by Mark Thayer at Signature Sounds Studios in Ware, MA. Through tireless touring and self-promotion, Traveling Matt built a loyal fan base and sold over 1,000 copies of each album. The band toured from Boston to New York, eventually gaining enough popularity to sell out venues such as Harpers Ferry in Allston, and The Iron Horse in Northampton.

I worked very hard this year to improve my instrumental proficiency. My first semester, I raised my overall ensemble rating by one full point, and focused on my reading skills. My second semester was dedicated to technique.

Although I've developed many aspects of my guitar playing over the years, one of the facets that I've neglected has been raw picking speed. As a result, I decided to study with Joe Stump during the spring semester of 2009 in order to focus on my picking technique. The two videos below were recorded on 1/22/09 and 4/09/09 respectively, and show me playing the same exercise. However, by the time the second video was recorded, I had increased my picking speed by 20bpm. While this is admittedly a trivial exercise, this measurable increase in my abilities was a big achievement for me.
